Your chance to get questions answered

            Q
In C579 it says that Paul was given the Freedom of the City of Lubbock, Texas, Buddy Holly's birth-place. It made me wonder: what other city keys does Paul have?
Also, any news of a tour?
            Dave Richards, Cardiff, Wales

Strange as it may seem, we don't keep a file on Paul's specific awards; it would be full to bursting point if there was one. Certainly, and most famously as far as Freedom of the City honours go, Paul was made an honorary freeman of Liverpool in 1984. This allows him to attend certain civic functions but not, despite popular myth, to enjoy privileged grazing rights for his animals or drive his sheep through the city centre! As for the hallowed outsized key, it's the symbolism that's important, for it wouldn't actually open any doors...
To answer your second question (and the only question of many other correspondents) there is no news about a tour. If and when there is, you'll read about it in Club Sandwich, but don't expect anything in 1997.

            Q
On 4 November last year I saw a brief interview with Paul on TV, talking about The Beatles Anthology 3 and looking marvellous. Could you please tell
me where and when this interview was made?
Also, are there any plans to issue Paul's animated and other short films on video?
            Andrea Barany, Hungary

The interview - Paul chatting to the Apple press officer Derek Taylor - was filmed in July, in some woods close to Paul's house. Background noise during the interview came courtesy of some wild peacocks and pea-hens. There are no plans at present to release on video Paul's short and animated films.

            Q
I recently saw a superb episode of The Simpsons featuring Paul and Linda. 'Maybe I'm Amazed' is heard during
the closing credits but that's not all I heard - there's also Paul's voice, saying something backwards. For those of us who cannot play video tapes in reverse, would you please tell us what Paul was saying?
            Frank James Mlakar, Minneapolis, USA

Played forwards, Paul's message was "One medium onion, chopped; two tablespoons of vegetable oil; one clove of garlic, crushed; one cup of carrots, chopped; two sticks of celery, chopped; half a cup of lentils; one bay leaf; one tablespoon of freshly-chopped parsley; salt and freshly-ground pepper to taste; two and a quarter cups of vegetable stock or water." Which, for those of you yet to memorise Linda McCartney's Home Cooking, is the Lentil Soup recipe from page 56. Just for added measure, Paul then concluded with one final message, "Oh, and by the way, I'm alive!"

            Q
I'm both a Beatles/McCartney fan and a Star Trek fan. I once read that Gene Roddenberry (the creator of Star Trek) and Paul discussed a joint project in the 1970s. What was it and how far did it go?
            Jeannette Lampe, Lengerich, Germany

Around 1976 Paul and Gene discussed a joint TV/film idea in which Wings would be featured within a science-fiction setting as a band from outer space. Although announced in the press, the project did not go beyond early planning.

            Q
Can you please tell me which of Paul's song/music folios are available, and how I can best obtain them?
            Lawrence Gilmour, Poole, England

All of Paul's post-Beatles music has been published in folio form, and those available at the present time include Flowers In The Dirt, Band On The Run, Give My Regards To Broad Street, Press To Play, Tripping The Live Fantastic, and All The Best! Also available is the single-song sheet music for 'Let 'Em In', 'Mull Of Kintyre', 'Wonderful Christmastime', 'Jet', 'Take It Away', 'Theme From The Honorary Consul', 'We All Stand Together.', 'Spies Like Us', 'Press', 'Once Upon A Long Ago', 'All My Trials' and 'C'mon People' These can be ordered through a music (instrument) store or direct from the Mail Order Department, Music Sales, 8/9 Frith Street, London W1V 5TZ.
